A Brief Talk To Retirees

Do you mourn your lost youth and vigor?

For the last 3 or 4 years I find myself saying “I plan my life like I am 25, then my 70-year-old body kicks in and says What were you thinking?!” (It’s OK to laugh here; I do.)

What I mean is that I say ‘yes’ to things that I am no longer able to do - at least not with the same ease as I did when I was a much younger woman. The death of my husband and cancer treatments have left me with emotional and physical fatigue. I have shortness of breath and can only walk a few yards before I need to take a rest. Chemo did a number on my low back and legs. I am happy to say that I often don’t need my cane, so I am seeing some improvement over time.

None of that stops my interest in life. I still have many talents and wisdom to share with the world. And so do you.
